Quantification and qualification of clastic cave sediments from the karst area of the Schalkauer Platte. The aim is to clarify the provenance of the sediment components on the basis of mineralogical and physical composition and to attribute weathering-related macro- and micro-morphic changes to climate-related environmental influences. Furthermore, the formation conditions of sediment structures such as clay trees and sediment aggregates from the cave ceiling area (“swallows’ nests”) are investigated on the basis of the substrate composition.
